AMA, Overall Champion is Overall Champion in Cisco Systems
The competition has two categories. Basic and Advance. The skills of eight schools were also tested in the Basic Category where a different set of students from AMA Computer College, Davao won second place. Mapua Institute of Technology won first place.
The winning AMA Davao team for the Local Netriders Competition Advance Category is composed of graduating students of BS Computer Science and Information Technology Nikko Ayag, Ryan Rusiana, Nora Liza Tumanda with Warren Badong as Coach. As early as now, the AMA winning team is preparing for the 3rd Asia-Pacific Cisco Skills Netriders Competition as the official representative from the Philippines. This online contest will be held in October 2010 where several ASEAN countries will be competing. The winning AMA Davao team for the Basic Category is composed of students Odilon Chua, Aziel Grace Layson, Ansary Naga, with Coach Blitz Estrebilla.
Asia Pacific NetRiders is an annual competition held by the Cisco Networking Academy (CNA), a comprehensive e-learning program that enables students to develop valuable information and communications technology (ICT) skills for increased access to opportunities in the global economy. The competition is done virtually over Cisco TelePresence and Cisco WebEx. The competition tests the capability and skill levels of CNA students in the area of computer network hardware design, configuration, development and maintenance, all of which are covered in the CNA program. The competition involves two levels of testing. The first level is multiple-choice online examinations and the second level requires hands-on troubleshooting with preconfigured networks.
In the Philippines, AMA Education System (AMAES), Asia’s pioneer and largest network of universities and colleges, is one of the first partners of Cisco Networking Academy. AMAES is also authorized to administer the exams for CNA certification in the Philippines.
