Associate in Architectural Design Technology

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Architectural Design Technology course is designed to equip candidates the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies in applying computer – aided drafting in the preparation and conduct of architectural design, structural steel drawing, machine drafting, commercial building planning and/or industrial illustration.

To achieve the candidate’s proficiency in the different modules of this course, the school provides instruction utilizing different teaching methodologies, CAD techniques, procedures, processes, standards and state – of – the – art facilities, equipment & software

The modules in this program will be delivered through (a) interactive discussions in the classroom utilizing visual aids and other teaching materials to gain the knowledge and (b) laboratory classes to acquire the required skills and competencies. Take home reading assignments may also be given from time to time.

Specifically, some of the teaching methodologies to be utilized are:

• Interactive lecture and discussion
• Problem solving
• Simulation (hands-on machine problems and exercises)
• Individualize learning
• On-the-job training

The trainees/students are expected to:

• Apply basic engineering design concepts.
• Use computer-aided drafting systems to produce technical drawings.
• Design building plans.
• Apply architectural laws and standards.
• Select and manage construction materials.
• Perform machine drafting and design.
• Produce detailed technical drawing.
• Apply advanced computer-aided drafting.
• Apply pictorial drawing.

Upon completion of this course, the trainees/students with the necessary competencies, should be able to perform the duties, responsibilities and acquired attitude relevant to the job titles of an Architectural Technologist

The trainees/students also should be able to pass the Occupational Qualification and Certification System (National Certificate - Level III) of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – a government accrediting institution.

Duration The Associate in Architectural Technology consists of 6 basic modules, 2 common modules and 9 core modules, involving a total nominal duration of 1634 hours.
Recognition This program is accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).  It is fully recognized within the Philippines and internationally for further education and employment in the private and public sector.

• First Semester: June - October
